Day 46-47 - Monday & Tuesday, October 11-12
The morning of Monday, October 11th we do a few repairs and stop at the fuel dock for refueling before heading out to Denarau Island late morning.
We arrived at Denarau Island around 2pm and Carol & Mickey immediately took the dinghy to the marina to stock up on food for the final leg.
We were back by 4pm to stow everything and clean up for dinner onshore. We ate at a traditional Fijian restaurant and experienced Tuva, pork cooked underground and lamb shanks.
The restaurant also celebrated Fiji Day by offering a drink of Kava to all patrons, of which Carol was the first in line! We all enjoyed and now we can say we did.
After we got back to Kanoa we enjoyed an onshore fireworks celebration in honor of Fiji's Independence Day.
Tuesday Morning, October 12th Xavier is heading off to customs for our final clearance papers. Then we will be off on the final passage to New Caledonia. Our plan is to leave mid morning and stop at Mana Island for lunch before heading out for good. Sail plan projections now have us arriving in New Caledonia 12 hours earlier, sometime the night of Sunday, October 15th or early morning Monday, October 16th.
Once again we will be offline the entire passage but will post again once we arrive. Until then, Be Well!
