You Know You’re in Tonga When…

This is the Customs “Processing Center”.

A live pig is water taxied to the dock behind your yacht and wrestled into the back of a small car.

A wreck of a building is one of the fanciest restaurants around.

The entire Kingdom shuts down for a Prince’s birthday (road is busiest in all of Tonga).

Everyone says “Hello” and most will say “Goodby” without any other interaction.

This is considered a “Shopping Center”

The parade in honor of the Prince’s birthday is a flag raising ceremony on the palace grounds complete with Military marching band, drill team and two cannon salute.

You see pigs fishing for shellfish.

You marvel as to why the only 3 headed palm tree in the South Pacific is important.

Children, and adults for that matter, cannot relate to traffic signals such as stoplights, there aren’t any!

There are thousands of dogs, chickens and pigs, but not a single Veterinary in the entire Kingdom of Tonga.
