Day 8 - Saturday, September 1
It was 2 pm and the three of us once again went to the customs office but our exit visa paperwork still had not been processed. We were told it was not looking promising but to come back at 4 pm just in case. We were disappointed but resigned to the very good possibility that we would have to spend the weekend in Bora-Bora, OH THE HUMANITY!
We set to work repairing the cover to the bow thruster that had come off. This would require Xavier diving under the boat to center an aluminum plate over the hole while Carol and Mickey managed straps on deck that would hold it in place.
While we were working people gathered to either watch the show or see if Xavier got squashed between the boat and the concrete pier. Obviously that wasn’t going to happen but our work was popular with the locals. We successfully got the plate in place and secured. One gentleman was so appreciative of our work he gave us an entire stalk of bananas!
We had just gotten finished when Xavier received a call from the customs office to let him know our paperwork had been processed. We hurried to the office to complete the process and get our passports stamped. Here is our passport page with an inbound stamp at Papeete and an outbound stamp from Bora-Bora.
Bottom line is we will set sail this evening for sure, into the sunset!
